Spiral Bound: Acoustic Hewn Rock 'n' Roll Spiral Bound is a dynamic acoustic-based Americana band that plays eclectic covers and edgy originals. Knife-sharp rhythms, intense lyricism, innovative structures. Comparisons have been made of them reminiscent of Tom Waits, The White Stripes, The Handsome Family, Hamell on Trial, and X. Spiral Bound is Roy Peak on guitar and vocals, and whoever he's lucky enough to share the stage with that night. Roy has played in more bands than he cares to remember for more years than he can remember. Some of these bands were Soul Guardians, Radio Berlin, The Problems and Blue Veronica. He currently plays bass with Red Afternoon, Mark Williams and Blue Horse, XGeezer, Ruby Beach--with Arvid Smith on guitar--and Lauren Fincham, to name a few. In Spiral Bound he plays guitar and "sings" which is asking a lot of someone used to standing in the back of the stage, staying out of the spotlight. Other sometimes members of Spiral Bound are: Tamara Grigsby is also in the band Red Afternoon along with Terry Whitehead. She is kind enough to lend her vocal abilities to many projects in the local music community, as well as playing guitar, harmonica. With Spiral Bound, Tamara sings, co-writes the songs and gets to live out her dream of playing bass in a rock band. "That Damn Beau" Halton, of the bands Willie Mae and Shoofly, plays drums with Spiral Bound when the moon is in the right phase and his shaver is handy. Beau knows how to groove--he adds the right rhythm and spirit to the music he plays. Robin Soergel plays accordion and sings like a Nightingale with Beaches bands Ruby Beach, Shoofly, and the Punchbuggies. Mike Pearson, long considered the Jeff Beck of Jacksonville, has played guitar with Jacksonville great Mike Shackelford, 86 Love, and The Glass Camels, and currently creates marvelous guitar textures for songstress Lauren Fincham.
